0A young woman, the daughter of a wealthy industrialist, and the young Rodolfo de Carvalho love each other intensely. The couple, along with other prominent figures in the Recife society, meet at the night gatherings of the Pernambuco Club. One night, a fierce fight breaks out between Rodolfo and a rival. Later, Rodolfo is wrongly convicted of a crime and is sentenced to serve time in Fernando de Noronha. However, he escapes from prison determined to seek revenge.
