A hit-and-run driver hits and kills a little girl in Pontevico. The latter's father, a long-time friend of Walter, asks the reporter to investigate the matter, before dying by suicide. Walter, not believing in this hypothesis, throws himself headlong into the search for the truth. Meanwhile, the return of the charming Candy provokes the jealousy of Federica who decides to resign from the newspaper and leave for Milan.
