During the Ming Jiajing era, Deputy General Du Shiqing journeys to Baoding to expose the crimes of Madam Yan, sister of the treacherous minister Yan Song. He rescues Lin Xiuying from Yan’s son Cheng Xiniu, whose death in the struggle forces Du to help Xiuying pursue justice. When Madam Yan’s retainers avenge her by murdering Xiuying’s father, the upright magistrate Tang Cheng bravely hears the case despite political pressure.
