BIOGRAPHY

Maryna Stepanska (Kyiv, Ukraine, 1982) is a Ukrainian film director and screenwriter. She graduated from Karpenko-Kary National University of Film, Theatre, and Television (Film Department, specialty: director) in 2004. Further, Stepanska worked at the experimental theatre "School," where she studied the methodology of working with non-actors. She completed a 6-month ARCHIDOC program for documentary filmmakers at the French film and television school La Femis. Her feature debut, "Falling," received several awards at international film festivals and three awards of the National "Golden Dzyga" in 2017-18. She is a co-writer of a few feature films; the last one is "Forever-Forever," directed by Anna Buriachkova, which premiered at Venice IFF in 2023. Currently, she is working on a documentary feature, "It's not a full picture," that follows the lives of Ukrainian filmmakers since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
