Jan van Aken

Jan Paul van Aken is a German politician (Die Linke). With a doctorate in biology, he worked as an activist against biological weapons, served as a biological weapons inspector for the UN from 2004 to 2006, and was a member of the German Bundestag from 2009 to 2017 and again from 2025. In 2016, he published the so-called TTIPleaks documents as a whistleblower. Since October 2024, he has been federal chairman of the Left Party together with Ines Schwerdtner. Together with Heidi Reichinnek, he ran as the top candidate in the 2025 federal election and was elected to the German Bundestag for the third time via the state list.
