Ron Read known as Buddy Colt, Ty Colt, and "Cowboy" Ron Read, was a prominent American professional wrestler who competed in several NWA promotions, including St. Louis Wrestling Club and Championship Wrestling from Florida. He won multiple championships, including the NWA Georgia Heavyweight Championship (7 times). Before his wrestling career, he served as an aviation mechanic and sergeant in the Marines. He debuted in 1962 and went by various ring names, most notably Buddy Colt in NWA Western States. In 1975, he suffered a plane crash that forced him into retirement due to serious injuries, though he continued working as a commentator and co-owner of Championship Wrestling from Florida. He passed away on March 3, 2021, at the age of 85, due to Parkinson's disease and dementia. He was married to Lorraine Read for 40 years.
