BIOGRAPHY

Akim Camara (born 26 September 2000 in Berlin) is a German violinist who first gained international attention as a child prodigy, beginning violin at age two and performing publicly from age three. Early in his career he appeared with André Rieu and other renowned musicians, and performed on television and in major concert halls. After extensive classical training, Camara played in youth orchestras such as the Deutsche Streicherphilharmonie (German String Philharmonic) and the Landesjugendorchester Berlin (Berlin State Youth Orchestra), and won prizes in competitions such as Jugend musiziert. He founded the Philharmonisches Jugendorchester Berlin (Berlin Philharmonic Youth Orchestra) in 2018, which he has directed since its inception. Since 2022, he has been studying orchestral conducting at the Universität der Künste Berlin (Berlin University of the Arts), while continuing to perform as a conductor and violinist and serving as a member of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie (Young German Philharmonic).
