The popular ARD documentary series Nachtstreife is expanding its 8th season to include Ludwigshafen in Rhineland-Palatinate, alongside its previous locations in Mainz and Hamburg. Filming began on December 8, 2025, and will follow six police teams from the Ludwigshafen 1 and 2 stations, as well as the Criminal Investigation Service, until March 2026. Officers will wear body cameras and take the film crew along on their night shifts, offering a close-up view of police work in the city. The new season, produced by SWR, is expected to air in 2027.
