A farm woman would rather raise a goose as a pet than a cat.
2. Forever Walking Free
The story takes place in London during the height of the "Battle of Britain" when the Luftwaffe was bombing the populace. Joan Warrock's home has been bombed. She meets an American Air Force gunner, Buster Menton, in the blackout-darkened streets shortly afterwards and he takes her to an afterhour "pub" to calm her nerves. It isn't until the evening is over that she realizes there has been something strange about the place and about Buster. Her thoughts return to the party in the bombed building and she dreads all the future bombing that will come, until Menton convinces her that he knows that she has nothing to worry about in the future.

A young roomer's life is unexpectedly altered by a seven-year-old child.
4. A Family Affair
An outwardly weak-kneed, henpecked member of Philadelphia's elite, Sumner Scofield II is constantly reminded by his wife that he must look down his bank-roll at anyone not in the same financial and social bracket as the Scofields. When their son Will, home from Yale for Spring vacation declares he wants to quit college and marry a vocalist in a band, Agnes Scofield tells Sumner the family must "buy the girl off". Sumner's encounter with the young singer takes an unusual turn which allows him to assert himself for once in his life.
5. A Matter of Life
A widower, realizes to his astonishment that his daughter, a typical wholesome American girl, begins to act strangely almost overnight, stealing and disobeying him. When he shadows her one night, he realizes she has fallen in with drug addicts and herself becomes addicted to narcotics.
6. Grandma Was an Actress
An old woman seeks to persuade her granddaughter to go on the stage against her son's opposition.

Maryjane finds herself in a lonely bus station on a desolate highway one rainy night shortly after it is reported that a homicidal maniac is at large in the area. There are only two people in the station and Maryjane suspects that one of them is the killer.

A young wife of a doctor tries to help him by learning his profession. She learns far too well and nearly causes her husband to lose his medical license.

Story of a small town bank cashier dismissed from his job, after the bank's president John Gresham is indicted for embezzlement. The bank trustees suspect that Baldwin is involved in the crime but don't accuse him. He cannot find other work because of the scandal and is practically penniless when he receives a strange offer of $100,000 if he will leave town.
12. No Will of His Own
An excavation inspector finds an original play by William Shakespear in the ruins of an old London house and connives to pass it off as a creation of his own.
13. Stolen Years
The easy-going life on a Chinese river port of four foreign agents for American firms is unexpectedly interrupted by Detective Yates of the San Francisco police department, who announces he wants one of them as a fugitive from a California murder warrant.

A nurse is forced to make a shrewd real estate deal when five roommates leave her with a lease for a huge house.

A beat cop finds that making the arrest of a wanted killer has its aftermath - attacks by vengeful henchmen.

17. The Blues Street
Pete Cornelius the 19-year-old son of a wealthy businessman is on his way to college for his first year's studies but when he stops off in New Orleans on the way to the school Pete becomes fascinated with the city. He also becomes interested in a nightclub vocalist, Lou Jansen and decides against catching his train for the University. His disappearance causes his father to send out a nationwide alarm and offers $1000 reward for his son's return. When this is announced Lou plays a different part in his life than he had anticipated.

The story of the Innkeeper and his wife in the town of Bethlehem during the reign of King Herod.
19. The Jest of Hahalaba
A British business man whose clairvoyance plays tricks on him on New Year's Eve.
20. Mr. Finchley Versus the Bomb
Finchley refuses to move from an old ghost town he calls home. The Army has planned to test the atom bomb at the site but Finchley will not budge.
21. Ceylon Treasure
Adventurer Dave Rorsford arrives at a hotel in Ceylon carrying a gem worth a fortune, an international band of thieves immediately find out about it and make plans to steal it. A blonde named Alma also turns up at the same hotel hoping to buy the jewel. Indirectly she lures Rorsford into a trap set by the plotters. However, once she has betrayed him, Alma makes new plans to secure the diamond.
22. The Sound of Waves Breaking
Mike Brackauer shrugs off his success as an artist, feeling that his rise to fame has been based on technical proficiency without any deep creative talent. He becomes increasingly moody over his failure to inject what he terms "the spark of life" into his paintings. His confidence in himself is suddenly restored when a department stor salesgirl tells him she can hear the sound of waves breaking when she looks at one of his seascape paintings. A short time later they fall in love and plan marriage until Brackauer's confidence again leaves him.

A Boston waterfront roughneck is hounded by a beautiful evangelist who tries to convert him.
