First in a 1992 four-part comedy drama series based on David Nobbs' novel, `Second from Last in the Sack Race', showing a young Yorkshireman's journey through the British class system. It is 1935 and in the small Yorkshire town of Thurmarsh Henry Pratt is born. His life is soon marked by misfortune, upheaval and eccentric adults.
