As summer starts to make way for autumn, Monty is harvesting sweetcorn, taking stock of his plants in pots and pruning summer-fruiting raspberries.

Monty has plans for interest and colour in his garden next year, from adding a rose to the new Dog House to planting daffodil bulbs and sowing sweet pea seeds. He also shares his best solutions for tackling plant pests in his greenhouse.

Frances Tophill is back at Damson Farm in the Somerset countryside to revel in the atmosphere and abundance in an autumn garden. There are ornamentals and edibles to harvest, and in the meadow, there are seeds aplenty. She shares evergreen planting ideas for shady corners and adds a touch of late seasonal interest to beds and borders.

Monty has plenty of ideas to make the most of the season - from creating new plants for free by dividing herbaceous perennials to planning a dazzling spring display by sowing iris bulbs. He’s also planting elephant garlic for next year’s kitchen and Asian greens to keep his salads fresh all winter long.

As the autumn light bathes Longmeadow, Monty is harvesting pumpkins in time for Halloween, adding a berberis to his orchard border and planting out strawberries.
29. Episode 29
It’s an exciting week at Longmeadow as Monty makes a start on his brand new woodland garden. Autumn is the best time to get trees and shrubs in the ground, and he plants three that would do well in a shady spot. He’s also got ideas for brightening up a lawn and shares advice on how to get an early crop of onions.
30. Episode 30
Frances Tophill is back at Damson Farm, lending a hand with autumn jobs in the garden. She learns about a clever recipe for making an architectural compost cake, plants a container with evergreens and spring bulbs, and takes hardwood cuttings from a tree with beautiful berries.
31. Episode 31
At Longmeadow, Monty is full steam ahead creating a new woodland garden from scratch. He plants up some native grasses and adds in hellebores for a colourful spring display. He also prunes a climbing rose, harvests kale and winter veg, and pots up hyacinth bulbs.
32. Episode 32
With winter fast approaching, Monty has dahlias to lift and store, leafmould to make, and tulips and wallflowers to plant in pots. He also takes root cuttings from one of his favourite herbaceous perennials.
