Constance may never walk again after falling from the second-floor landing of Lute-Mae's.
2. The Victim
Titus is reluctant to investigate when Lute-Mae is raped by the son of an influential Truro family.
3. The Substitute
Fielding campaigns aggressively to renovate the barrio, until he learns the identity of the slumlord.
4. The Intruder
Sam battles a ruthless tycoon who wants him out of the bidding for a valuable section of waterfront property. Claude catches Fielding in a restaurant with another woman.
5. The Stranger
Lane is distressed by the appearance of her long-lost father. Tyronne plans to buy and then demolish the Cuban barrio.
6. The Powers That Be
Tyronne tries to gain Fielding's support by showing him how easily he can ruin his political career. Claude wants to put Eudora in a mental hospital.
7. Little Foxes
On Christmas Eve in Truro, Tyronne wants Titus to evict the Cubans from his newly acquired barrio property. Constance seeks the attention of Julio.
8. Old Friends
Angry over losing the barrio, Tyronne buys the local bank and forecloses on Claude's paper mill.
9. Strange Bedfellows
Titus faces tough competition for re-election when Elmo throws his hat into the ring. Constance has a tryst with Julio.
10. Heatwave
Fielding has the mill's books audited. Constance travels to Tallahassee to meet with prospective casino investors and rendezvous with Julio. Tyronne learns that Lute-Mae is Constance's natural mother. Alicia invites Skipper to dinner.
11. To Catch A Thief
Julio is arrested for the theft of Constance's jewelry. Lane pressures Sam to marry. Tyronne takes Lute-Mae to the race track.
12. The Explosion
Titus decides to silence Elmo's newspaper before Skipper's editorials ruin his plans for legalized gambling in Truro. Sam and Lane elope.
13. Chance of a Lifetime
Sam marries Lane. Skipper's blindness could be permanent. Titus frames Elmo for the explosion in the newspaper office.
14. Double Trouble
Eudora smothers Skipper with maternal care. Constance has Julio spy on Field. Lane and Sam honeymoon in the Caribbean.
15. The Dedication
Julio proclaims his love for Constance to Field. Alicia eludes Eudora's guard and sees Skipper. Titus and Tyronne plot Truro's future in gambling.
16. Sins of the Fathers

17. No Dice

A plane carrying Sam and Field crashes in the Everglades under suspicious circumstances- they were returning from a fact-finding mission concerning Tyronne's private dealings in Nassau.
19. The Bad and the Beautiful
